The front wheel drive Cadillac Eldorado, first introduced in 1967, received substantial exterior styling changes for 1973. The Eldorado Coupe sported a bold, new ‘eggcrate’ grille attached to the front bumber. When the bumber was struck at slow sppeeds, the entire grille retractedinward several inches, preventing damage to the grille and front-end sheet metal. THe hood, trunk, and bumpers were redesigned, and the parking and turn signal lights wrapped around the leading edge of the front fenders. Sales of the Eldorado Coupe numbered 42,036 foo 1973. The Cadillac Custom Eldorado displayed here waqs a birthday gift to Elvis Presley from his father. It was driven by Elvis fro several months as his personal car until he gave it to his Karate insructor.
